The Port of Jiangyin is in the middle of the northern shore of Xinghua Bay, the largest bay in Fujian. The port's shoreline is 8.37km long. The port area stretches 1.5 km northward. It can build more than 100 berths for 30,000-300,000t ships. Its annual throughput is up to 100 million tons.
The port has passed the national acceptance check as an open port. There are 13 container terminals for 50,000t ships, four chemical terminals for 30,000-50,000t ships and more than 10 bulk cargo terminals approved by the Ministry of Transport. At present, the port has opened international routes to Hong Kong, West Africa, West America, Europe, the Mediterranean and Japan, as well as domestic trade routes, which can directly lead to more than 10 nations and regions, such as the west coast of America, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as major port cities on China's coast. The four berths of No. 10-No. 13 are the only chemical terminals in Fujian approved by the Ministry of Transport.
The Port of Jiangyin has gradually become a multi-functional comprehensive deep-water port dominated by container transportation, supplemented by bulk cargo and liquid transportation, integrating multimodal transportation, trade, storage and processing. It's expected that the Port of Jiangyin will be one of China's top 10 coastal ports and one of the world-class container ports by 2015.
